Composure

A MIDI instrument for musicians who think in chords

Bring harmony to your DAW

You write the harmony. Play it through the instruments already in your session.

  • Voicing, rhythm, and melody, authored inside every chord.
  • One chord timeline across every track. Change a chord and the whole session follows.
  • Build progressions any way you work, through your entire arrangement.
The Composure plugin: arrangement bar, chord timeline, performance lane, and the pattern editor's live voicing grid

Hear it in action

Virtual instruments, real performances

Each demo below is taken from a full Composure session: one shared chord timeline, each instrument playing its own part. Listen to the full mix, then solo a track to hear what was written with Composure.

Hip Hop Soul A minor
Sunny Indie C major
Jungle Jazz D minor
ii–V Jazz C major

The Clip Editor

Go beyond chord progressions

Chords are more than just blocks of notes. Arpeggiate, strum, slice, or re-voice a passage until it plays the way you hear it.

The shared chord timeline

Change a chord. Every track follows

Composure holds one chord timeline for the whole session. Each instance sits on its own track, playing its own instrument and its own clips from the same harmony. Try a substitution once and it lands everywhere, instantly.

No copying MIDI between tracks. No re-voicing by hand.

Chord discovery

Every way into a progression

Build a chord timeline however you work: pull chords from the drawer, embellish a progression with Harmonic Moves, type one in, or import MIDI from a track you’ve already started. Then modify or swap any chord until it’s right.

Which DAWs does it work with?

If your DAW hosts VST3, AU, or AAX plugins, Composure loads in it as an instrument. It’s built and tested first in Ableton Live; other hosts should work too, and the verified list grows through the beta.

Do I need to know music theory?

No, and it won’t dumb anything down if you have it. Every chord carries its name and its mood side by side: Cmaj7, bright · soft-lit. Ear-first and theory-first musicians are reading the same screen.

Does it generate music for me?

No. Composure suggests, names, and shapes harmony you’re already finding. It never writes a note you didn’t choose. If a chord lands, that was you.

What does it sound like?

Like your session. Composure is a MIDI instrument: your DAW’s instruments are the sound.

Where do my projects live?

On your machine, as files you own. No account, no cloud dependency.
